Exploring work or business opportunities in Indonesia?
On 3 April 2018, President Director of PT Walletku Indompet Indonesia, Mr Farid MN from Singapore presented a very informative talk as he shared key ingredients to get started when venturing overseas.
Farid highlighted the importance of self-awareness, persistence, adaptability and networking – to build our social capital. He added that it was critical to do the necessary groundwork, gather relevant data and speak to people within the industry to build up one’s own “business intelligence”. He further encouraged those considering overseas ventures to stay and work in the particular country for at least one year so as to gain first-hand understanding of their business and social culture, and that there was no such thing as “working remotely”. To maintain our competitive edge over others in the region, there is a need to change our mindsets as being just hard working may no longer be enough.
This is one of the talks under the Eye on Asia programme series for everyone including young Singaporeans who want to explore opportunities in the region and beyond.
